Marian Chen , a native of Hong Kong, attended St. Mary's Canossian College, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon from Primary till High School when her family moved to Hawaii in 1974. Marian has lived in Orlando, Florida since 1985 and recently returned to stay in Hong Kong this past June.

She was an Adjunct Professor of Piano at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida from 1988 to 1994, 2000 to 2004 teaching courses in Piano Performance, Piano Proficiency, Piano Pedagogy & Piano Ensemble. During that period, Marian was chosen to perform a Solo Piano  Recital, as part of the "Festival of Music" Series at UCF to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the University.She performed as a Piano Soloist with the UCF Chamber Orchestra under Maestro Laszlo Marosi in their Spring Concert, March 2004 while actively performing and accompanying ensembles such as the Florida Young Artists Orchestra Association.

Marian had also maintained a private studio at her home in Oviedo for many years, teaching students of all ages and levels and was very active in local music associations such as the Central Florida Music Teachers Association, affiliated with the National Music Teachers Association & the Orlando Music Club, part of the USA Federation of Music Clubs (FFMC).. Her students have entered auditions every year and many of them have won awards, scholarships and piano competitions locally and at the statewide FFMC Junior Conventions.

Marian received a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1981 studying under the renowned Mr. Thomas Schumacher, Piano Professor at the University of Maryland and subsequently Professor at the Eastman School of Music since 1985. Marian won the "Holmer Ulrich" Award, given to the most outstanding student for "Best Piano Performance" in the Piano Graduate Division, 1980-81 at the University. She received the Bachelor of Music in Piano with Distinction from the University of Hawaii in 1978, studying under Dr. Edward Shipwright,a student of Sascha Gorodnizsky at the Julliard School of Music.

Marian's primary teaching philosophy is to build a solid foundation for keyboard study through emphasis on both strong technical skills and fine musicianship.

On her return to Hong Kong, Marian hopes to continue her musical career through performing and teaching and to become an active member in the music community here.
