Mike Carr, from Los Angeles, has been a professional musician for 30 years. He studied bass since 1975 at Dick Grove Music Workshop and Musicians Institute in Los Angeles. After then he had his private study with Eugene Wright, bassist on the jazz classic "Take Five" by the Dave Brubeck Quartet.
As a double bass and electric bass performer, Mike plays all styles of music and is best known in Hong Kong as a jazz musician of double bass gigs.
Prior to coming to Asia, Mike had toured with many important artists in the United States including Chuck Berry, Bo Diddly, Martha Reeves and Mary Wells. From 1980 to 2002, Mike was first call bassist for Dick Clark's Rock & Roll Road Show.
Since coming to Hong Kong in 2008, Mike has freelanced with all the important jazz players and performed regularly. He is a popular double bass player for Jazz Show and recording session in Hong Kong. He has co-operated with Henry & Roger Chung, Jennifer Palor and Mia Samira for their CD recording.
