Application

Application forms can be:

- Downloaded from the school website www.baronschoolofmusic.com or
- Collected at Baron School of Music

Upon completion of the application forms, please submit the form to 1/F, 33 Garden Road, St. John’s Building, Central, Hong Kong.

When submitting application(s) to the school, please check that the following items are included:

1. A completed application form(s), with a recent photo of the applicant taken within the last 12 months
2. Applicants under the age of 18 must be signed by the parent/guardian

Audition

Whole audition include 3 parts:

1. Applicants for Voice or any other instrumental majors must prepare 2 contrasting pieces of music (genres, ambience, or tempo). Playing skills and potentials of the applicant would be evaluated at the audition.
2. Applicants will be tested on general music knowledge.
3. Individual interview session.

Should applicants have no prior music training, special arrangement will be made: performance section and music theory written test would be exempted. Replaced by an interview session and a simple written test on general music knowledge. Musical knowledge of the applicants is not of ample importance. Basic pitch accuracy and musical sense of the applicant are of higher priority.

Important notice:

• Except piano major’s applicants, applicants should provide their own instruments for the audition.
• Applicants under the age of 12 must be accompanied by parent/guardian to the audition.
• Should applicants, for any reason, not able to adhere to the scheduled audition time, they should notify the school as soon as possible. So that alternative arrangement could be made.
• Should applicants failed to notify the school about their absences, applicants will need to submit a new application again.
• When Typhoon Signal No.8 or above is being hoisted, or the Rainstorm Black/Red Warning is in force, auditions will be suspended automatically. Applicants will be notified at a later date for reschedule arrangement.
• Baron School of Music reserves the right to final decisions on any issues subject to change.
• Without permission of the school, audio/video recording and photo taking is prohibited on the premises.
• All accepted applicants would be notified within 10 days after the audition by phone.
• Accepted applicants who had completed all registration procedures must punctually attend all individual and/group classes scheduled by the school. Frequently absence from any of the mentioned classes may result in dismissal from Baron School of Music.
• No refunds of any tuition fees would be made, should students withdraw from the course at anytime.

Teaching Language

Courses in Baron are conducted mainly in Cantonese and English.

School Policies, Regulations and Guidelines

Every student of Baron School of Music will be distributed a “Student Handbook”, for details of the School policies, regulations and guidelines, please refer to and comply with the “Student Handbook”.

Typhoon and Rainstorm

For all Junior Program classes and Private lessons with students aged 5 years old or below

When Typhoon Signal No. 3 is hoisted, all classes / examinations will be suspended or postponed.  If this takes place within the normal opening hours of The School, all classes / examinations will be suspended immediately.  If, however, the Typhoon Signal No. 3 is lowered at or before 6 p.m., all classes / examinations will resume as scheduled 2 hours after the announcement declared by the Hong Kong Observatory; otherwise, the Typhoon Signal No. 3 is lowered after 6 p.m., all classes / examinations will be suspended or postponed.

When ‘Red’ or ‘Black’ Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued, all classes / examinations will be suspended or postponed.  If, however, the Rainstorm Warning Signal is lowered or the ‘Amber’ Warning Signal is replaced, at or before 6 p.m., all classes / examinations will resume as scheduled 2 hours after the announcement declared by the Hong Kong Observatory; otherwise, the Rainstorm Warning Signal is lowered or the ‘Amber’ Warning Signal is replaced, after 6 p.m., all classes / examinations will be suspended or postponed.  If Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued within the normal opening hours of The School, students are advised to stay indoor to take shelter, all classes / examinations will be suspended immediately.  

All arrangements subject to the corresponding instructors’ availabilities and condition.  The School will announce the details if there are further arrangements.

For all other classes other than the above categories

All classes / examinations will be suspended or postponed when Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above is hoisted.  If this takes place within the normal opening hours of the School, all classes / examinations will be suspended immediately.  If, however, the Typhoon Signal No. 8 is lowered at or before 6 p.m., all classes / examinations will resume as scheduled 2 hours after the announcement declared by the Hong Kong Observatory; otherwise, the Typhoon Signal No. 8 is lowered after 6 p.m., all classes / examinations will be suspended or postponed.

When Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued within the normal opening hours of The School, students are advised to stay indoor to take shelter, all classes / examinations will be suspended or postponed.  If, however, the Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is lowered at or before 6 p.m., all classes / examinations will resume as scheduled 2 hours after the announcement declared by the Hong Kong Observatory; otherwise, the Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is lowered after 6 p.m., all classes / examinations will be suspended or postponed.  

All arrangements subject to the corresponding instructors’ availabilities and condition.  The School will announce the details if there are further arrangements.
